Felted Wool Art

After playing with some felted wool scraps for the dotee dolls, I still wanted to play with the wool.  There is just something about the natural fibers that I like so much more than synthetics, although synthetics do have some fun uses like bead making, lol.  I decided to make a set of coasters for a friend for a "whoa, I haven't seen you in a coon's age" gift.  I dug out the felted wool scraps again, and also some kool aide dyed wool yarn... now that was a fun project... and if you didn't see the post it is somewhere in the over a year ago posts.  I felted the yarn, kind of like free motion sewing but this was free motion needle felting, on to a square of machine felted wool then put two pieces of machine felted wool together.
Then I started free stitching with embroidery floss rather like the tiny pillows Teesha Moore did in one of her tute videos on youtube, I think.  Now that they are all stitched up, I am making a band to go around the stack of them with a botton... for storage.  I think she should like these!

Carol-do you have a felting machine? or are you just doing free motion stitching on your regular machine? Were you using wool roving? I like your coasters!
