Marie Fashion Show-Day 1

Today Marie is wearing a  Carol designed dress of pink satin gown embellished with a pink velvet overlay, and a brocade bodice, also embellished with a pink satin rose.  Her pompadore is embellished with a butterfly and pink roses also, as is the velvet overlay along with lovely pearl additive.  Marie finishes off the ensemble with jewels around her neck and bracelets of gold with inlayed jewels.  Total cost for the gown runs into the thousands of francs.  She will be wearing the gown possibly for her daily sensual pleasure of white cake with pink frosting.

More Marie

I tried tying folded watercolor paper into my folder (see earlier post)  but that just didn't work so good.  The pages were too loose, and if someone wanted to do a spread ( and who doesn't?) there would be way too much space in the middle.  Sewing seemed best to hold the pages tight.  Then, I found this book cover I saved to make a journal with.  Very soft feeling linen cover in a lovely grey shade with a silver fleur de leur embossed in silver which seemed to fit the MA theme... kismet!

I sewed my two signatures into the book, decorated the edge to extend it out over the papers, and just put the book into the folder.

I added a formal written invitation to play in my "book" and RSVP cards for sign ins.  Perfect!  And, I found the perfume decor in Vegas, what is more French than that?
A Marie painting greeting her guests, and some "sensual pleasures" they might enjoy....in my book which is now on its way to Hawaii!  I have never been to HI and don't ever expect to, but it is nice to know my "art" is making a visit there!
Please forgive blogger and the cyber "glitches" for turning my pictures sideways... how do the little buggers do that??

Goodbye Best Friend Bubba

Today, my bff had to be put down.  He was so old and tired and weak and sick, I could no longer hang onto him.  I had to let him go.  I am so sad to lose him but I am glad he is no longer suffering.  I made this page today while I sat with him waiting for his appointment with the Vet.  I wanted to remember all his fun attributes, rather than journal about the sadness.  I will so miss him as he and I have been totally together for the last two years.  We spent everyday all day long together, doing art, working in the yard, taking walks, being company for each other.  I cry because he is gone but know it is best for him.  So, in honor of Bubba...

Pocket Page for Marie

The back ground is a Monet looking piece of fabric in pinks, blues, greens, and naturals,  upcycled from a jacket.  You can't see it in the scan but it also has some silvery embossing woven into the pattern.   The vintage lace I found at my favorite shopping place, the yard sale mall, lol.  It is a beautiful old piece, yellowed to a lovely patina with beautiful roses and scallops, a fine piece of lace.  The group tells me I have to have a pocket to put goodies in..??  I am liking adding some fibers to the things I make.  I have been so into paper for so long this is rather a new experience for me.  I will be glad to move on to some collages with this swap.  I keep trying to de-clutter my stashes and I find stuff that I think... ah hah! Marie supply! lol
This is the first pocket page I made.  The pocket is not very big.  I will use this in my folder somewhere too.  You can see the back ground fabric better here... so pretty.

RR-My First-

Well, I guess I did do one other... a Wreck My Journal one last year.  But, this is really a new activity for me.
Over in the sketch book project group, the moderator started a swap with some folders she found somewhere.  She sent everyone that signed up for the RR one to decorate.   The RR is a Marie Antoinette theme.  We are binding pages into the folder so we will have a little book with lots of Marie inspired art!  I just finished my cover on the out side.  It started with a gold embossed gold colored fabric.  I then found this lace medallion and I mounted the small picture of Marie behind the oval, and sewed that on to the fabric.  I went around the edge of the page with some gold trim.  Then I added the white scalloped lace.  Next came the metallic and red trim, the vintage beaded bow, and lastly the buttons for latching it.  Now, I have to do a pocket page on the inside of this front flap.  Pocket so "stuff" can be stuffed into it, lol.

I shopped the thrift shops and everywhere I went on my trip... (did you miss me?) for embellishments that I could use on this RR.  I found fabrics, books, trims, etc.  I think I will make some Marie paper dolls for the pockets.  Or maybe not.  LOL.  Depends on the time factor, ya know?

Crows-Finally

I think I promised to post pictures of the cute crows I learned to make while in Vegas.  I finished one in class and then made another after coming back home.  I love these guys.  I want to make some more.. or maybe a different breed.  I loved learning about how to make armatures in this class.  They are rather difficult to get good pictures being so black.  The crown I made from a tape core.  It is removable, but I rather like giving him a "King Crow" look.

The crows sit on a small table in my entry way right now.  They have not learned to announce company as yet.

They do look as if they are having a conversation which makes them more endearing.

He looks a bit pesky too, as some crows are apt to look.

And she looks like she is on a mission of some sort... perhaps shopping?  Oh, right, she needs a new necklace, don't you think?

Lazy Muse

My muse has been rather lazy.  Just mosying around, not doing much as far as completed art.  Friday night and Saturday morning we played with the car girls, sewing cute fat little felt birds.  And for the last couple of days I have been stamping and journaling on a pair of pants, a work in progress that I started maybe in Dec., maybe in Jan... time is jumbled for me too.  I found this collage I made for a challenge over in CCS and then promptly forgot about it.  And the sphere... a drawing practice.  This really shows how out of practice I really am!

Come join me in my nest. Rest online with me. Talk with me. Play art with me! Follow me where ever my flights of fancy take me! Forgive me for my mistakes, enjoy my successes. And please, feel free to comment or to follow me!
