I started with about a 3 inch strip of aluminum foil which I crumpled into a very loose ball
Then I shaped out a beak
Then another strip of foil, this time about 12 inches for a body
I used some wire to stick the two together, then added a bit of masking tape to help hold them.
I wanted to make more than one so I ripped foil and wadded up balls until I had enough to make 6 birds
Next, out to the garage where I ripped up a discarded book into strips to make paper mache, which I added to the foil forms. I added foil and tails and made foil wings too, which is covered with paper mache.
The first coat of paper mache is drying. Tomorrow, another layer, then I will add the wings. In the meantime, I have to decide if I am going to make the final coat colorful paper or paint. Perhaps I should do a few of both. These go together so easy... don't you want to make one?
