My mother loved roses. I hated them. Why? She loved the beautiful blooms... I, on the other hand, hated the thorns. As she grew older, to the point of not being able to care for her yard, I became her gardener. I had to deal with the pruning of her many and beloved roses.
I am allergic to anything that goes through your skin, like bug bites and rose thorns.
And beside...
Drawing roses is very difficult!
But, for the tutorial I chose the rose. I think if you are going to practice, you might as well work on something that you need to improve on, not just do what you can already do.
I sometimes wonder if drawing roses is difficult because I really don't like them?
And so, my not so beautiful drawing of a rose!

You did a wonderful rose. The are difficult but oh so lovely.
No, roses are very difficult to get just right! Yours is looking great!
Sometimes the most difficult things end up being rewarding when you've gotten it done right. The rose petals look so natural and realistic here. Give yourself a pat on the back!
