Crows-Finally

I think I promised to post pictures of the cute crows I learned to make while in Vegas.  I finished one in class and then made another after coming back home.  I love these guys.  I want to make some more.. or maybe a different breed.  I loved learning about how to make armatures in this class.  They are rather difficult to get good pictures being so black.  The crown I made from a tape core.  It is removable, but I rather like giving him a "King Crow" look.

The crows sit on a small table in my entry way right now.  They have not learned to announce company as yet.

They do look as if they are having a conversation which makes them more endearing.

He looks a bit pesky too, as some crows are apt to look.

And she looks like she is on a mission of some sort... perhaps shopping?  Oh, right, she needs a new necklace, don't you think?

Janet-I am not too sure I should divulge the making of the armature due to the Shurtz' class still being taught at A&S... you know, they would prefer you take the class. l Anyway, it is a rather complicated but easy once you learn process to make a wire armature. The heads I got in the class- he eveidently makes them. I am going to give making an armature for the head a try soon. Then once you have the armature you use a new kind of resin to soak up t shirt fabric and put on the armature.

Wow, this is a very unique art form, isn't it? I guess once you can do crows the sky is the limit on what you can create. I'd love to try this sort of sculpture. What a fun class it must have been!

Oh! I love your crows! Great job. You've done a great job of giving them personality. And being a crown fan, I love that you've given one crow a crown.

It would be great to know now they are made, but I understand why you can't share.

No matter, we can enjoy your crows!
