Christmas Cards?
I know you all have your favorite thing to do with each years Xmas cards. Mine, for the most part have been to file them in a clear plastic shoe box. But, after some years, the storage box is full! And, since I was thinking about my rubber stamps recently, I remembered the tiny doll stamp I have which would fit on one side of the cards just about right. So, out came the cards, out came the stamp. I used the pretty fronts of the cards and stamped the doll pattern on the back. I like how the cut up holiday patterns can now be used all year! Next, cutting! All this is pretty easy to do on my lap desk, since I have to keep my feet up as much as possible, lol. Then I used a needle tool to punch tiny holes in the bodies and arms. I decided I wanted some of them to have wings, and some of the cards were big enough to cut a set out of the left overs from the doll. To make the wings I cut a deep veed heart, then separated them into two parts. I decided some faces would be nice, so painted an oval with acrylic paints and used markers and pens for features. I am not used to working on such small faces so they are not as great as I would have liked them to be, but are acceptable at this point. During this process, my three darling car girls came to visit and of course they were thrilled with the little fairies and pixies, so had to make one too! I let them pick whichever one they wanted from the body parts I had cut out. We put them together with tiny brads. I have been playing with fairies and pixies, adding the features, and inspirational words to each. I will put these in a little drawer where I keep pieces of art for little gifties. FAIRIES AND PIXIES, what fun!

Very fun, what a great way to use those old Christmas cards! You should send some of them in for consideration to be published through Somerset Studio.
This is wonderful! A great use for cards, and such fun to find special words on those fairy wings. The photo on your banner is breathtaking! Lovely, lovely, lovely! Happy new year!
You're are so great at finding delightful projects that entertain while your feet heal. The perfect little gift, addition to a journal page, bookmark, gift tag, the possibilities are endless. What a great stamp!
Wow. You are SO creative! I'm in awe of your endless ideas...You're generous in your sharing of them as well.
Hugs,

Great project! Thanks for sharing. I believe in fairies, I do believe, I do believe, I do believe...
I can see you had fun. I would never have thought to turn them into fairies or paper dolls. Years ago I followed a pattern and cut out slippers and crocheted around them. I don't think I've done anything since.
This looks like a lot of fun!! :-)
What a neat idea! I think that Somerset would really be interested in these.
Love this idea!!
I take mine into the preschool (I teach 3 yr olds) Next year they will be used to make puzzles and matching games and art projects.
These are just too cute! Love them. I agree with what others have said about submitting them for publication consideration.
Also, if anyone would like to receive a handwritten letter and help me reach my goal of writing 365 letters in 2010, drop me an email with your mailing address and I will get one out to you ASAP.
