Tomorrow! 29gifts STARTS

When I get up tomorrow, I will be drawing out the first name, addressing an evie, sending it off to someone.  I am so excited! But nervous too.  I hope everyone will like their gifts!

Four Days

Only four days to drawing.  Are you getting excited?  I am!

Five Days

A vintage book picture frame.  If you have been reading Taking Flight you saw the instructions for this.  This little princess is embedded in a 1950's copy of War and Remberence.  I am not sure if she will appreciate this but I am sure her Mom will.  Under her picture it says something about she takes off her rouge and lipstick and mascara.....  lol.

This mandala has things that come from the inside of watches, and cameras, from the disassembly of old jewelry, pieces of wood and metal, a few skinned up fake jewels, and some string!  How fun to use this stuff rather than toss it in a landfill!

I have been seeing the "faces" drawn on book pages, especially by milliande, so I had to try it.  I liked the feel of the paper in the book I chose to draw in (a discard from a library).  But, what do you do with the drawings?  I am using them in some collages.  Here is the first one.

In Honor of Old and Faithful Friend

I found this teeny sliver of a photo of one of our dogs from many years ago, Reagan.  So, I pasted it in the middle of my mandala and doodled "doggy" things around it.  Reagan loved to pheasant hunt, go on the fishing boat, swim in the water, eat bones, left us muddy tracks, asked us to open the doors for him, and was generally "one of our kids."  We are "for dogs!"

I dug out envies and stamped them with numbers 1-29, found the bubble wrap to cushion my items, pulled out the trunk full of art items then randomly stuffed the envies with surprises.  See the March 5 29 Gifts post before this one on how to receive on of these envies in your mail!

Give Away for 29 Days Surprise

Well, I first became acquainted with this last fall and it has been on my mind to do something like this ever since.  So, since March is my birth month, I decided I would give away here on my blog 29 pieces of my art.  I have included a variety of things I have created in the envelopes! Here is how you can recieve one of my gifts:

Make a comment on this my blog swallowcliffs.blogspot.com/ saying you want to be involved in the 29 gifts give away. Then, send your name and addy to swallowcliffs@yahoo.com. with 29 gifts in subject line.

You can do this through March.  Then, starting on April 1 and going through April 29, I will draw someone's name with addy from the printed email lists, check here to see if you have commented,  and if yes, I will send out the the envelope that matches that day. So, who I draw on April one will receive envelope # 1 and so on.    That is why I want your name and addy emailed when you sign up, so, I can get the packages out each day.  What you receive will be a surprise to you and to me too, since I tried very hard not to pay attention to what went in each envelope.  I hope this all works out, I have not done anything like this before but I am sure it will be FUN!.  I hope you will play!

Self Portraits Before Book

I have been reading about portraits.  Self.  I started one or two just to see what I would do.  Then, when I decided to order KRR book, I saw Mixed-Media Self-Portraits Inspiration and Techniques by Cate Coulacos Prato.  I decided, before I read this book, I would post the portraits I have already done.  These I completed just recently.  As I go through the book I will post some more.
